The most common ailment of Indigo Children is known as Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). I personally like to think that the only reason there are any attention issues is because, as light beings, we know that there are larger issues at hand then what we are being taught or told. We want to do what we want to do; our specific mission ingrained in our bodies. I personally think it is an awesome problem to have. For your brain to function at its optimal level, I have put together a list of top foods to consume and foods to avoid:
Salmon contains Omega 3-fatty acids, children with attention deficit or hyper active disorders tend to lack in EFA’s. (Essential Fatty Acids). EFA’s help the brain function. Fish, Flaxseed and Nuts all contain EFA’s.
Vitamin B Complex: Vitamin B3 and B6, found in nutritional yeast, liver, whole-grain cereals and breads, rice, nuts, milk, eggs, meats, fish, fruits, leafy green vegetables and soy. Be choosey, however, on what you choose from this list. Personally I believe red meats effect the body and brain function for sensitive beings. But every body is different. Also, everything in moderation! If your body is sensitive to gluten take that into consideration as well with the nutritional yeast, breads and cereals.
Proteins such as Protein smoothies, nuts, grains, eggs, cheeses, hummus, nut butters and nut milks help the brains ability to focus. A fed brain is happy one! I’d choose nut milks/cheese over dairy any day.
Calcium and Magnesium found in milk and green veggies. Calcium supports cell membranes and aids the nervous system. Magnesium has a calming effect on the nervous system.
Zinc and Iron: Children with ADD/ADHD have low levels of zinc in their bodies. Iron may help neutralize dopamine levels in brain. Foods that contain Zinc include seafood, beef and lamb, wheat germ, spinach or other leafy greens, pumpkin and squash seeds, cashews (as well as other nuts) cacao, pork, chicken, beans, mushrooms and flax seeds. Foods containing Iron include red meat, egg yolks, dark leafy greens (spinach, collards), dry fruits, iron rich cereal and grains (check the box), mollusks (oysters, clams, scallops), turkey, chicken, beans, lentils, chickpeas, soybeans, liver and artichokes… Yum!
Sugar robs the body of all those nutrients. It increases hyper activity… as if we need to be MORE hyper!!!
Additives such as food dyes and colorings. MSG, or monosodium glutamate, is usually found in Asian cooking or fast foods (chips, soups, soy, lunch meat, salad dressings, etc.) .
Hydrogenated Oils interfere with brain function. The wrong type of fats worsen the condition. Children who consume high amounts of hydrogenated oils tend to act out more.
Caffeine pulls minerals from bones and lowers pH levels in body, creating a more acidic body. Your body won’t function appropriately or fight off illness. Disease ridden bodies have an acidic pH. Diseases cannot survive in alkaline bodies. (Think a pH level of 6-10 for alkaline.) Caffeine is found in coffee, teas, chocolate and many desserts.
Salt interferes with internal equilibrium. It kills off minerals needed to keep neurons firing. Try pink Himalayan sea salt instead.
